Wear It: Firmoo Glasses, Review and Giveaway

Firmoo Glasses Review

These Firmoo frames have been my favorite fashion accessory since they landed in my mailbox a few weeks ago.  You may have seen me wearing them in action here and here.  Firmoo is an online prescription glasses retailer specializing in trendy, fashionable, and affordable frames.

firmoo1

Firmoo has so many cute frames to choose from and it was hard to select just one pair.  I almost always choose light brown frames, but I decided to step out of my comfort zone this time and selected this darker brown tortoise shell.  I honestly really love them!

Firmoo Glasses Review

Firmoo has a First Pair Free program where you can try their prescription frames (or non-prescription frames, if that’s how your fashionable self rolls)  for free and all you have to pay is shipping.  That’s a great way to get a pair of quality glasses at an affordable price.  If you’ve never ordered prescription glasses online before, there is nothing to it.  Simply ask for your prescription in writing when you get your next eye exam.  Then, Firmoo’s ordering process takes you step by step to accurately input the prescription.  That’s all there is to it!

Now, do you want to hear something really awesome?  Firmoo is giving away a pair of glasses PLUS shipping to one of you lucky ladies or gents (they have mens frames, too)!  AND 4 E-vouchers to put toward their Designer Glasses.  Here are more details:

For the grand prize winner (1 person): a pair of fashionable eyeglasses including shipping, any pair from http://www.firmoo.com/all-products.html , both prescription & non-prescription are available. Designer glasses and sunglasses are not available to choose.

For the second prize winners: each winner will win a $30 E-Voucher which can only be used on designer glasses.  The vouchers can only be used on Firmoo designer glasses at http://www.firmoo.com/designer-eyeglasses.html.

The giveaway is open internationally, but the winners have to be located in the area our delivery can reach to. Please visit http://www.firmoo.com/help-c-10.shtml to get the countries we ship to and details of the postage.

Are you feeling lucky?  Use the Rafflecopter below to enter.  Good luck!

SwatchBox Review

March SwatchBox Review

SwatchBox ~ Facebook ~ Pinterest

A surprise selection of three beautiful and coordinating fat quarters plus a matching spool of thread delivered to my mailbox each month?  Yes, please!

SwatchBox is a monthly subscription service that delivers just that plus an additional sewing bonus item each month.  The selected fabrics are high quality quilters cotton by designer fabric brands, and the coordinating all purpose thread ensures that you can begin working on a new sewing project as soon as your SwatchBox is delivered.

March SwatchBox Review

The fabrics in the March SwatchBox included beautiful orange and grey patterns by Windham Fabrics and dark orange thread.  The box also included all purpose sewing needles and a 2x2 square.  Beautiful fabric prints is one my weaknesses, and SwatchBox did not disappoint.

March SwatchBox Review

SwatchBox delivers designer fabric samples to your door.  The boxes are $15 each month (shipping included) and can be purchased month-to-month or in 6 and 12-month blocks.  Subscriptions can be purchased through the SwatchBox etsy shop where you’ll also find more information about the service.  Also, follow the SwatchBox Pinterest boards to see lots of great sewing projects that you can make with fat quarters and fabric scraps (and quilt projects, too) – you will never run out of sewing projects to make with your SwatchBox fabrics.

Do you know someone who would love a subscription service like this?  I know a lot of folks who would love this, myself included!  Now, what should my first project with these beautiful fabrics be?

Easter Crafts on WDRB in the Morning

Boutique Style Easter Basket #diy #easter #craft

This morning Craft E Magee and I demonstrated Easter crafts on WDRB in the Morning.   Participating on WDRB is seriously one of the most fun experiences we have ever had.

I loved Kim’s boutique Easter baskets that she made last year, and I wanted to create one in the same style for my daughter this year.  She picked out her colors and I love how it turned out.  Here is the video clip of me demonstrating how to spruce up your plain Easter baskets:

Also this morning, Craft E Magee demonstrated her adorable Easter hand puppets. (Full tutorial and free printable templates found HERE).

Wear It: eShakti

What I Wore Wednesday eShakti

Every time I wear these boots with a dress, I want to go two-stepping.

I don’t even know how to two-step.

But the denim jacket makes me look like I could rock the two-step, no?

What I Wore Wednesday eShakti

This is my new dress from eShakti.  I love it for a thousand reasons, not the least of which is because it has pockets.  Also, because clothing from eShakti can be customized to fit your exact measurements.  And you can choose dresses in your preferred length.  And sleeve style.  Seriously, with so many ways to customize their already fabulous selection, eShakti is a woman’s dream shop.

My dress fits me perfectly, the length hits me exactly where I like my dresses to hit, and the shipping was speedy quick.  Plus, I’m stepping from my comfort zone and gleefully wearing flying critters.  It’s an all around win-win.

What I Wore Wednesday eShakti

Beaded ring from LindsayLou Jewelry.

What I Wore Wednesday eShakti

Figs and Ginger Necklace

Almost Africa Earrings

What I Wore Wednesday eShakti

I purposely selected a dress that I could transition from spring to summer, back to fall.  With the length and sleeve customizations, many of eShakti’s dresses can transition from season to season, which I love.

If you’re interested in checking out eShakti’s clothing for yourself, you can use code DYLSVLLE for 20% off until 3/20/13.

Have you ever had a dress customized for yourself?  How do you feel about wearing flying critters on your clothes?

I post my outfits here to show off my thrifty and handmade wears. Plus, I like cute clothes. I link up each week with What I Wore Wednesday at The Pleated Poppy, Whatever Whenever Wednesday, Not Dead Yet Style, Real Girl Style, Dress for the Day, Lily Among Thorns and Casual Friday. My Ireland Box

Ten years ago this month (yowzers!) my husband and I took a pre-wedding honeymoon to Ireland.  Dreamy, gorgeous, weathered Ireland.  And it is with complete sincerity that I tell you that I have spent nearly every day since our return yearning to go back.  So, when I was offered the chance to have an authentic piece of handmade Ireland sent straight to my mailbox this month, I practically squealed with excitement.

My Ireland Box Craft Box Review

I brought home from Ireland many handmade items that I still use and wear nearly everyday; In fact, I’m wearing a pair of wool socks and silver Claddagh ring  from Ireland right now.  When I opened My Ireland Box this week, I had a rush of nostalgia looking at these handmade pieces.  Beautiful and quality, every one of them is something that I would have purchased on my own.

My Ireland Box Craft Box Review

Wood Wine Stopper, Matt Jones, Woodturner.

Feed Your Skin Chai Latte Natural Lip Balm, Bia Beauty.  (This stuff is amazing!)

Laser Cut Owl Card, Alljoy Design.

Woolen Sheep Fridge Magnet, Liz Christy, Handweaver.

My Ireland Box Craft Box Review

My Ireland Box is a monthly subscription service where you’ll recieve a selection of handmade items from Irish artists each month.  You can choose to receive a box on a monthly basis, or you can prepay for a 3, 6, or 12 month subscription.  Plus, you can send the boxes as a gift!  How perfect would it be to send a surprise handmade box to someone you love each month?  If you happen to live in the UK or Europe, then My Ireland Food Box might be a great choice for you, too.  (I’m bummed that US residents can’t get the food box.)

The craft items in the box each month are carefully selected by husband and wife team Katharine Keane Barrett and Thomas Barrett.  They are dedicated to curating the best that Irish artisans have to offer to bring you quality handmade products and a superb Irish experience each month.

You can find full details on cost and subscription services on the My Ireland Box website.  If you’d like to keep up to date with My Ireland box, follow on Facebook and Twitter.

Wouldn’t you love to receive a box of beautiful handmade items each month?

Make It: Jute Wrapped Flower Vase

jute yarn wrapped bottle tutorial #diy #recycled #crafts

Repurposing glass bottles into pretty flower vases is easy with only a few materials.  Simply wrap yarn or jute around the bottle and it’s ready for display.  I love the natural look of jute elements in my décor, but you can also use any color yarn to create a look similar to the ones I made.

jute yarn wrapped bottle tutorial #diy #recycled #crafts

You’ll need:  A clean glass bottle with labels removed (if you don’t want to risk the label peeking out), glue of your choice, and jute or yarn.  Apply a section of glue to the bottom of your bottle and glue down a small portion of your jute/yarn to create a tail.  Hold it for a few seconds to dry and then begin wrapping the jute/yarn around the bottle and over the tail.  Work up the bottle in small batches applying glue then wrapping until you reach the top.  That’s it!

Happy repurposing, DIY’ers!

Eat It: Pina Colada Cake

Pina Colada Cake

There hasn’t been any sunshine outside this week, so I baked the summery-ist, sunshiny-ist cake ever.  The SkinnyTaste Pina Colada Cupcakes are like a day at the beach for your taste buds, I kid you not.

Pina Colada Cake

I didn’t alter any part of the original recipe.  The cake is a box of yellow cake with a can of crushed pineapple, and the topping is pineapple, coconut, and cream cheese.  Heaven.  (See the full recipe plus Weight Watchers points at Skinny Taste HERE.)

Pina Colada Cake

The only thing I did different was make a round cake instead of cupcakes.

For easier devouring eating.

Because sometimes I’m gluttonous like that.

Happy baking, DIY’ers!
